Women's Health

Supporting your health at every stage of life

At Local GP, we provide confidential, compassionate care for women of all ages. Whether you need routine screening, advice about contraception, or support through the menopause, our experienced clinical team is here to help.

We understand that discussing your health can sometimes feel personal or sensitive. Our aim is to provide a comfortable, supportive environment where you can ask questions and make informed decisions about your care.

Cervical Screening (Smear Tests)

Regular cervical screening is one of the most effective ways to help prevent cervical cancer.

If you are invited by the NHS for cervical screening, we encourage you to book your appointment as soon as possible.

Our nurses are experienced in providing cervical screening and will do everything they can to make the appointment as comfortable as possible.

During your appointment we will:

Explain the procedure and answer any questions

Carry out your cervical screening safely and professionally

Let you know when and how you will receive your results

If you are feeling anxious about your appointment, please let us know. We are happy to discuss any concerns beforehand and can offer additional support where needed.

Contraception Advice

Choosing the right contraception is a personal decision, and we’re here to help you find the option that best suits your lifestyle and health needs.

We offer confidential advice on a wide range of contraceptive methods, including:

  • Combined oral contraceptive pill
  • Progesterone-only pill
  • Contraceptive injection
  • Contraceptive implant
  • Contraceptive patch
  • Vaginal ring
  • Emergency contraception
  • Condom advice and sexual health information

During your consultation, we’ll discuss your medical history, preferences and future pregnancy plans to help you choose the most suitable method.

Menopause and Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT)

The menopause can affect every woman differently. Symptoms may include hot flushes, night sweats, low mood, poor sleep, brain fog, vaginal dryness and changes in energy levels.

If menopause symptoms are affecting your daily life, our clinicians can assess your symptoms and discuss the treatment options available.

This may include:

Lifestyle advice

Non-hormonal treatment options

Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT)

Ongoing reviews to ensure your treatment remains safe and effective

Our clinicians will work with you to develop a personalised treatment plan based on your symptoms, medical history and individual preferences.
