Our Minor Surgery Clinic provides assessment and treatment for a range of skin conditions and musculoskeletal problems that can be safely managed within the practice.

The clinic is led by Dr Mane, an experienced GP with a specialist interest in minor surgery, and is held twice each week.

Where appropriate, many procedures can be carried out safely in the practice without the need for a hospital referral.

What conditions can we treat?

  • Removal of skin tags
  • Removal of sebaceous (epidermoid) cysts
  • Removal of lipomas (fatty lumps)
  • Removal of benign skin lesions
  • Removal of certain moles, where clinically appropriate
  • Joint injections
  • Soft tissue injections
  • Selected low-risk basal cell carcinomas (BCCs), where appropriate
  • Other minor surgical procedures following clinical assessment

Conditions we cannot treat

  • Suspected melanoma
  • Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC)
  • Most suspected skin cancers requiring specialist management
  • Basal cell carcinomas (BCCs) on the face
  • Large or complex BCCs
  • Large or complex skin lesions
  • Conditions requiring specialist plastic or dermatological surgery

Appointments are offered according to clinical need. Urgent problems are prioritised, while routine requests are booked into the next appropriate appointment.

Yes. If you would prefer to see a particular GP, please let us know when submitting your request. We’ll do our best to accommodate your preference, although this may not always be possible.

Yes. A parent, carer or someone acting on your behalf can contact us where appropriate.

Most procedures are carried out under local anaesthetic.

We’ll arrange referral to the appropriate NHS specialist service.
