GP Travel Vaccinations

Helping you travel safely

Whether you’re travelling for business, a family holiday or visiting friends and relatives abroad, it’s important to prepare for your trip and protect your health.

At Local GP, we provide travel health advice, travel risk assessments and a comprehensive range of NHS and private travel vaccinations to help you stay well while you’re away.

We recommend contacting us at least 6–8 weeks before you travel, as some vaccines require more than one dose or need time to become effective. However, if you’re travelling at short notice, please still get in touch—we may still be able to help.

Our online medical request service is available only to patients registered with the practice.

If you’d like to access our services, you can register online in just a few minutes.

Need help?

If you are unable to complete the online form, please telephone the practice and a member of our reception team will be happy to help.

Before you travel

As well as vaccinations, there are several steps you can take to protect your health while travelling:

  • Check the latest travel health advice for your destination.
  • Ensure you have enough of your regular medication for your entire trip.
  • Carry prescribed medicines in their original packaging and check whether you need documentation for controlled medications.
  • Arrange comprehensive travel insurance, particularly if you have any pre-existing medical conditions.
  • Follow advice on food hygiene, safe drinking water and protection against insect bites.

Vaccines not provided under NHS services can usually be obtained from private travel clinics. We recommend checking vaccination requirements well in advance of your travel dates.

We offer a wide range of NHS and private travel vaccinations. However, we do not provide Yellow Fever vaccinations. If you require a Yellow Fever vaccine, we’ll advise you where to access an accredited vaccination centre.
